How to Climb is more motivational talk than climbing guidance. There is some helpful material on scheduling, recovery, and cost-benefit assessment of different activities.

However, it could stand more clear exercises for building climbing skills, strength, and eliminating fear of falling. 6 people found this helpful. I maintain that climbing is not actually physically very hard if your technique and composure are good.Climbing outdoors on lead is not that typical and is beyond the ability level of most climbers.

Outdoors I'd say that it's unusual to even find a solid climber. The vast vast majority of people climb around the and down grade range. This is abundantly clear if you climb in areas where outdoor climbing is popular.
